Bats award funds to community groups

Funds raised from the Bere Pen 10k road race 2014 hosted by Bere Alston Trekkers (Bats) were awarded to local community groups in the village last week.

£600 was available to community groups within the Bere Peninsular who were invited to submit a bid. Every bid that was made was successful and the funds were shared as follows:

Bere Alston Rainbows (camera), Bere Alston Pre School (donation towards IT equipment), Tiddlywinks (boy’s construction table & tools), Collytown Stud (folding tables), Debbie Doidge Child-minding (Kidizoom twist child’s camera), Weir Quay Sailing Club Cadets (equipment), WWATS (Wednesday wipe-out active toddlers) (signage and other equipment to promote the group) and Trinity Hall (annual donation to say thank for use of the hall).

Members of each organisation are pictured with club members receiving their cheques.

This year’s Bere Pen 10k is Sunday May 3rd, entries are open and communities will be able to bid again for funding. Further information can be found here: Click
